These vehicles are used to haul units which are not fitted with standard drawgear. They have standard couplings and buffers at one end and EMU couplers at the other, along with a through air supply to allow brake operation. In the view above the Barrier vehicle is seen between the Class 67 and the last Electrostar to be delivered from Derby on 17th August 2005.
