The FEAB comprises two intermodal platforms permanently coupled via a bar coupling to form one wagon. They are built at Wagony Swidinica in Poland, part of the American Greenbrier group. The wagons have a strong steel spine, side pieces with standard tristlocks and the outer ends of each wagon has conventional buffers and drawgear. The inner end, as seen above, has a simple bar coupler. Twistlocks are provided to accommodate combinations of 20’, 30’ & 40’ ISO containers. The vehicle rides on bogies of type Y33LSS840 (ie 840mm wheels) from ELH (Eisenbahn Laufwerke Halle) of Halle, Germany. The production run includes some single platform wagons, to the same design except for having drawgear at both ends.
