These vehicles are the original design of Freightliner flats, introduced under British Rail in the 1960s. The FGA (outer) and FFA (inner) wagons work together as 4 – vehicle sets and are capable of carrying 1 x 40’ and 1 x 20’ or 2 x 20’ containers of the standard 8’6’’ height. Although they are getting old many are still in service thanks to their basic rugged design, seen above at Leeds Freightliner terminal in August 2005
