Fleet Support Engineer


Porterbrook Leasing Companyspecialises in the leasing of all types of railway rolling stock and associatedequipment. The engineering function is seeking the mosttalented commercial and technical resources in the industry to join its team,to enable the business to be fit for the future.

The Fleet Support Engineer isaccountable for the management of Porterbrook assets when they are on lease tothe Train Operating Companies (TOC’s). This role in particular will be based in Derby and support theextensive cascade of Turbostar fleets into the East Midlands Railway, followingsimilar fleet cascades to Northern and Wales. This is a hands-on role to help ensure thesuccessful delivery of the Turbostar fleet. A key element of this role will beto help upskill the TOC engineering teams on the technicalities of this fleet,during the cascade and the initial periods of operation. The role will also providesupport to deliver Porterbrook’s lease obligations for the relevant assets,heavy maintenance, modification programmes. The role will also develop solutions to any issues affecting the asset, provideplatform support and develop reliability growth programs.

We are looking for a CharteredEngineer, or someone working towards this level, with 5 or more years of relevantRolling Stock experience, along with good asset management skills, although wewill also consider candidates who are time served railway engineers. Key will be a deep level of technicalexpertise in the Turbostar fleet and the ability to transfer knowledge andskills to others. The ideal candidate will have good commercial skills, budgetmanagement, excellent communication skills and have a good understanding offleet leasing arrangements. Strong attention to detail is also critical alongwith problem solving skills. Ideallywith a project management qualification or good evidence of managingengineering projects. Successful candidates are likely to have abackground in a TOC or the supply chain. The role holder must be prepared forregular travel as required.
