Porterbrook Leasing Company specialises in the leasing of all types of railway rolling stock and associated equipment. Based in Derby with a corporate Head Office in London, the organisation is undertaking a period of transformational change as it responds to the changing landscape in rail. The engineering function is seeking the most talented commercial and technical resources in the industry to join its team, to enable the business to be fit for the future.

The Fleet Support Engineer is accountable for the management of Porterbrook Assets when they are on lease to the Train Operating Companies (TOC’s). The role will cover a range of fleets, both diesel and electric, ensuring they are maintained to the highest standards. The role will also provide support to deliver Porterbrook’s lease obligations for the relevant assets, heavy maintenance and modification programmes. The role will also develop solutions to any issues or incidents affecting the asset, provide platform support and develop reliability growth programs.

We are looking for a Degree Qualified Chartered Engineer, or someone working towards this level, with 5 or more years of relevant Rolling Stock experience, along with good asset management skills, we will also consider candidates who are time served railway engineers. A key requirement will be a deep level of technical expertise gained across a range of different fleets. The ideal candidate will have good commercial, budget management and excellent communication skills as well as a good understanding of rolling stock leases. Strong attention to detail is also critical along with problem solving skills. Ideally with a project management qualification or good evidence of managing engineering projects. Successful candidates are likely to have a background in a TOC or the supply chain. The role holder must be prepared for regular travel as required.
