Project Manager (Asset Protection)

Porterbrook Leasing Company specialises in the leasing of all types of railway rolling stock and associated equipment. Based in Derby with a corporate Head Office in London, the organisation is undertaking a period of transformational change as it responds to the changing landscape in rail. The engineering function is seeking the most talented commercial and technical resources in the industry to join its team, to enable the business to be fit for the future.

The Project Manager (Asset Protection) is accountable for the management of the Porterbrook assets whilst they are on lease to the Train Operating Companies (TOC’s). Through liaison with the engineering functions of our customers the role will monitor asset condition, management of spares, management of enhancement projects being carried out by external suppliers ensuring that they are delivered on time, to budget and with a quality outcome. This will require the management of suppliers, the costing of projects, and the end to end oversight management of the project. The role also manages vehicle redelivery and oversight of the off-lease assets.

This role combines a background in the management of assets, delivery of projects and commercial skills. Ideal candidates will have a detailed knowledge of the rail industry and have a track record in managing enhancement and modification projects. The ability to balance the safety and the protection of the assets with the commercial aspects of fleet leasing will also be critical. Candidates should come with an engineering qualification and ideally will be a Chartered Engineering (or working towards this), although that is not critical. A project management qualification would also be helpful.

We are seeking the very best talent to join the team, and offer an excellent salary, along with bonus and benefits. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a great organisation with excellent people and a road map for the future to grow and develop the business.

Please send your CV and a covering email with full details of why you would be a great addition to the Porterbrook team, along with details of your current salary and notice period to apply for this role.
