The Category Manager will report into the Head of Procurement and be accountable for development and implementation of the category strategy. They will maintain the strategy and ensure best value for money. A strong focus on quality and the management of the supplier’s performance will also be key factors of this role.
The ideal candidate for the role will be an exceptionally talented and ambitious individual in the field of buying and category management. They will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in procurement and have achieved/or be working towards their CIPS qualification. They must have technical knowledge, ideally gained within a rail environment. It is imperative that the person taking on this role will also have a high degree of commercial acumen, coupled with excellent negotiation skills and an eye for detail, demonstrated by a track record of delivery to KPI’s. This is a role for a self-starter keen to join a small team in a highly regarded business. An interest in innovation for the future would also be helpful along with previous experience of ISO accreditations.
