First look at the new Greenbrier 60’ intermodal twin wagon
A significant milestone has been reached in Porterbrook’s partnership with GB Railfreight and Greenbrier as the prototype for the new Greenbrier ’60 intermodal twin wagon is fully assembled in Poland.
This twin container wagon type (FEA-G) is a first of its kind for the UK rail freight market. It will allow for a higher volume of freight to be transported on each rail journey, enabling GBRf to increase its intermodal freight capacity.
With each tonne of freight transported by rail producing 76% less carbon than road haulage, the new wagons will support the Green Recovery and Porterbrook’s mission to deliver a more sustainable railway.
The full production run for 100 twin wagons is anticipated to start from July onwards, becoming operational towards the end of 2022 following delivery into London Wembley.
