The Secretary of State for Transport Mark Harper set out his vision for the future of the railways in the annual George Bradshaw address on Tuesday (8th February). He restated the government’s commitment to rail reform and the creation of the Great British Railways guiding mind alongside a stronger role for the private sector.
Mary Grant, CEO of Porterbrook was part of a senior leader industry panel who responded to the speech. Mary welcomed the Transport Secretary’s renewed commitment to rail and recognition of the significant private investment in rolling stock and said unlocking commercial forces and entrepreneurial flair are key to driving future revenue and growth in the reformed railway.
