Porterbrook named Transport Sector Leader for sixth year in ESG assessment

Porterbrook, the UK’s leading rolling stock financier and asset manager, has been named Transport Sector Leader for the sixth consecutive year in the global GRESB assessment.

The company achieved the highest possible score of 100 out of 100 and retained its five-star rating in the Infrastructure Asset category.

GRESB evaluates the sustainability performance of organisations worldwide, covering areas such as leadership, policies, stakeholder engagement, energy and waste. Through its data and performance insights, businesses can better understand risk and turn sustainability commitments into measurable action.

Mary Grant, Porterbrook CEO, said: “We are proud to be recognised as GRESB Transport Sector Leader for the sixth consecutive year. Achieving the highest global standard reflects the dedication of colleagues across Porterbrook and their shared commitment to advance sustainability and innovation in the rail sector.”

This year Porterbrook launched the UK’s first and only electrified test track loop at its Long Marston Rail Innovation Centre in Warwickshire, where companies can develop and trial new technologies that improve performance and reduce environmental impacts.

The company is currently building a 1MW solar farm on the site that will set a new benchmark for low-carbon rail infrastructure, becoming the first in Europe to convert solar energy into the 25kV power required for rail operations.
