CEO Mary Grant speaks at Rail Scotland
Porterbrook was delighted to sponsor the Peloton Rail Scotland Conference in Glasgow again this year, bringing colleagues from across the industry together to focus on how Scotland’s Railway can deliver better for passengers, taxpayers, and meet its net zero ambitions.
CEO Mary Grant joined a panel including Bill Reeve, Director of Rail Reform at Transport Scotland, Catherine Hall, Director of Strategy and Investment at Network Rail Scotland, Natasha Grice, Rail Director at Transport Focus, and Olivier Andre, Partner at Netcompany, for a discussion about what rail reform looks like for Scotland.
Mary spoke about Porterbrook’s focus on partnerships to deliver long-term value for the railway, looking 30 years ahead and beyond. She highlighted our 49% stake in Brodie Engineering Ltd to support Scotland’s vital supply chain, and building the UK’s only continuous test track loop at the Long Marston Rail Innovation Centre - which is also showcased through virtual reality at the event.
Taking a question from the audience, Mary spoke from her perspective as the Chair of NSAR about the importance of creating the right cultures and environments in the industry. This is essential to embrace and encourage diversity, and attract a workforce for the future that represents the people and communities the railway serves.
