First refurbished Class 458 trains return to service with SWR
This week (Monday 24th June) saw the first Class 458 trains return to service with South Western Railway after conversion and upgrade works at Alstom, Widnes.
The conversion works see the previous 458/5 5-car configuration reduced to a 458/4 4-car configuration while also increasing the line speed to 100mph.
The upgrade works will mean an improved passenger experience for customers travelling on the SWR network, with refreshed interiors including new carpets, tables and charging points.
17 of our Class 458 fleet with South Western Railway have been refurbished currently with a further 11 to follow.
