Warwickshire school students join Rail Live Primary Engineer challenge

Amongst the 7,000 people at the Long Marston Rail Innovation Centre for Rail Live in June, some of the most enthusiastic were the special visitors from Quinton Primary School and Stratford-Upon-Avon Primary School.

The visit was organised through Porterbrook’s sponsorship of the Primary Engineer Rail Programme for neighbouring schools around Long Marston. Primary Engineer is a not-for-profit whose vision is to ensure all children achieve their full potential through engagement with engineering.

During Rail Live, Porterbrook welcomed two of the schools who have taken part in the programme to compete in a fun engineering challenge where they were teamed up with VIPs from across the rail industry and local community.

From the British Transport Police to the Department for Business and Trade, the children were able to engage with and learn from representatives across varied industries.

After participating in the event live on stage, the children had the chance to look around and enjoyed the many exhibits on display from robot dogs, HydroFLEX and, of course, the ice cream.

One visitor even commented that it was the best day she’s ever had!
