ASLEF General Secretary Mick Whelan visits Long Marston

Porterbrook was pleased to welcome Mick Whelan, General Secretary of ASLEF to the Long Marston Rail Innovation Centre last week.

Mr Whelan saw the improved facilities across the site following over £3 million of investment from Porterbrook in the last year. He also had a tour of HydroFLEX where Ben Ackroyd and Helen Simpson explained many of the key engineering developments and safety features of the train.

A good discussion took place about future plans for Long Marston and the next phase of HydroFLEX testing. Mr Whelan was keen for some of his colleagues to have a tour of the train and gain further understanding of this new form of traction.
